Mulde Viewpoint Trek – 7 Days

    Overview And Highlights

The Mulde Viewpoint and Poon Hill Trek is a beautiful seven-day journey through the peaceful hills and traditional villages of the Annapurna region. It is an excellent choice for travellers who want impressive Himalayan views without taking a long or extremely demanding trek.

The journey begins with a scenic tourist-bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara. After spending a relaxing night beside the beautiful lakeside city, you drive to Ghandruk, a traditional Gurung village surrounded by terraced fields and mountain scenery. From Ghandruk, the walking trail continues through Tadapani and Dobato before reaching Mulde Viewpoint at 3,637 metres, the highest point of the trip.

An early-morning hike to Mulde Viewpoint rewards you with a wide panorama of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. On a clear day, you can see Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, Lamjung Himal and several other snow-covered peaks. The sunrise slowly lighting these mountains is the main highlight of the trek.

The route continues to Ghorepani, with the option to visit Poon Hill for another memorable sunrise. You then descend through rhododendron forests and hillside settlements before returning to Pokhara and Kathmandu.

Compared with some of the busier Annapurna routes, the trail around Dobato and Mulde feels quieter and more natural. Along the way, you will walk through beautiful forests, cross small streams, stay in welcoming mountain teahouses and experience the warm hospitality of Gurung and Magar communities.

Peace Nepal Treks can arrange this journey as a private trek for individuals, couples, families or small groups. The itinerary can also be adjusted according to your available time, walking pace and travel plans.

    Trek Difficulty and Preparation

The Mulde Viewpoint Trek is graded moderate. No technical climbing experience is required, but trekkers should be comfortable walking for four to seven hours a day on mountain paths. The route includes stone steps, forest trails and several sustained uphill and downhill sections.

Regular walking, hiking, cycling or light cardiovascular exercise before travelling will make the trek more comfortable. The highest point is 3,637 metres, so walking at a steady pace, drinking enough water and following the guide’s advice are important.

Best Time for the Mulde Viewpoint Trek

Spring, from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, are generally the best seasons for this trek.

Spring brings warmer temperatures and colourful rhododendron forests. Autumn usually offers stable weather and clear mountain views. Winter can be beautiful and quiet, although snow and cold conditions may affect the higher trail. Summer brings green landscapes, but rain, cloud and slippery paths are more common.

    Accommodation and Meals

You will stay in a comfortable hotel in Pokhara and local teahouses during the trek. Rooms in the mountain villages are simple, clean and usually twin-sharing. Facilities become more basic around Dobato because it is a small and remote settlement.

Teahouses serve a choice of local and familiar meals. Dal bhat is a popular trekking meal because it is warm, filling and rich in energy. Other common choices may include noodles, soups, fried rice, potatoes, pasta, eggs and seasonal vegetables. Available menus vary by location.

    Culture and Natural Beauty

The trek passes through villages associated mainly with Gurung and Magar communities. Traditional houses, local farming, warm hospitality and mountain lifestyles make the cultural experience an important part of the journey.

The forest sections are especially attractive in spring, when rhododendrons bloom in different colours. Depending on the season and your luck, you may also see Himalayan birds and other wildlife along the quieter parts of the trail.
