The Beauty of Tsum Vally – it's peace & Old Buddhist Monasteries

“Tsum” translates to vividness, and the trace of it can be felt through the trek, especially where you feel the air and thus the life, as described by Guru Rimpoche. He even called it the “Hidden Valley of Happiness”. A Buddhist guru may have called it so for his own reasons, but once you’re here you’ll feel the aura too – especially trekking through the remote and quiet landscapes.

The time spent in this “Hidden Valley of Happiness” will inspire you for months ahead, especially regarding your raw experience with nature and after seeing the simplistic ways of people who call this region home. The beautiful views you’ll have from Larkya-La Pass 5,160m, and the pristine valley itself will be memorable in this program organized by Peace Nepal Treks.

You’ll be trekking through average Nepali trails, but you’ll need the desire to walk – at least for three weeks. The program is designed to have ample days for acclimatization before trekking further to higher altitudes. You need to walk about 6 to 7 hours each day and need physical fitness for walking for 3 weeks.

How to travel Manaslu Circuit

Starting from Kathmandu with a local bus ride or private Jeep ride, you will reach Budhi-Gandaki and trek along the rushing river for a couple of days. And the trek joins the popular Annapurna Circuit at Dharapani. Our 3 weeks trek ends here and drives back to Kathmandu from Dharapani.

It’s a tranquil trek that provides an exquisite experience of remote Nepal. Homestay is the norm here, but you can take this opportunity for camping as well – a camping trip in the pristine region of the Himalayas! Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Hiunchuli, and Shringi Himal are some of the peaks you’ll see on this memorable trip to Nepal.

Special permit fees for Manaslu circuit – Tsum Valley

This trek is a restricted area of Nepal and needs to issue a special permit through the government register local trekking company in Kathmandu. There is not allowed to travel on their own. It’s compulsory to travel with at least one guide or one porter service. You need two different special permits – one for Tsum Valley Trek and another for Manaslu Circuit Trek. You also need the Manaslu Conservation entry fees (MCAP) and Annapurna Conservation permit (ACAMP) entry fees.

This program organized by Peace Nepal Treks is a splendid combination of trekking and tea house (homestay) in the quiet remote locations of western Nepal. You will be trekking a section of the Manaslu Circuit and also a portion of Tsum Valley, which is known for its peace and solitude.

Additional Information

Choosing the right month to go on a trek to the Manaslu Tsum Valley in Nepal is important for many reasons. The weather and temperature are important factors, but there are also a number of other considerations that need to be taken into account. Here are a few of the main ones:

October

Among the seasons, autumn is the best time to trek the Manaslu region of Nepal. The temperature is ideal for hiking and the region has less rain, snow, and humidity. Moreover, there is more daylight than at other times of the year. This makes the region less crowded and the weather is perfect for a trek. The region is also home to a diverse mix of alpine vegetation.

October is also the perfect month to trek over the Langtang Valley. The weather is stable, the skies are clear and the landscapes are beautiful. The region is less crowded and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.

October is also one of the busiest months of the year. This is because of festivals such as Tihar, Dashain, and the Nepalese New Year. Moreover, the region is home to many trekkers and villagers who come out of winter and return home in spring.

November

Choosing the right season for trekking in Manaslu is important to ensure that you get the most out of your trip. The right time for trekking in Manaslu is determined by many factors, including climate, rainfall, and other climatic hazards. Depending on your level of expertise, it is best to choose a season that will allow you to safely explore the mountains.

The best time to trek in Manaslu is during the months of October and November. In this season, the temperatures are not too high, allowing trekkers to enjoy clear views of the mountains. The rains are low, making trails safer. The temperature is slightly lower in the mornings but increases in the afternoons.

The temperature ranges from about -4 degrees Celsius in the early mornings to around 25 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. At the highest altitudes, the temperature can drop to -6 degrees Celsius.

December

Whether you're planning a trek in the Himalayas or another part of the world, December is the perfect time to go. The days are clear, the sky is bright, and the mountains are still visible. Unlike the rest of the year, December is slightly cooler, and you'll have more daylight. It is also the driest of the autumn months.

In the high-altitude regions, day temperatures are typically -8 degrees, although lower regions are warmer at 21 degrees. For the most part, you'll find clear skies, beautiful mountain views, and the best trails.

In the lower regions, you'll find gorgeous flowers and fauna. There's also the chance you'll spot endangered animals such as the snow leopard and the Himalayan goat.

In the upper regions, the weather is a bit cooler, but still quite warm for trekking. Day temperatures are around -7, and the nights are chilly.

March

Visiting Manaslu Tsum Valley in March will provide you with the best views of the mountains. The weather is warm and sunny during the day and cool and chilly during the night. This is the perfect time for trekking.

The spring season in Nepal starts in March. You will notice a variety of flower blooms. These include the rhododendron. This season is also the most crowded as many travelers make treks to the region. You will also notice an increase in the number of tea houses and lodges opening for the season.

The weather in the higher regions is unpredictable. You may experience heavy downpours or snowstorms. The rain may cause slippery trails. You may also experience a lack of atmospheric pressure which can affect your health.

Winter

During the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek, you can enjoy the best views of rivers, farms, and lush green forests. However, you must be prepared for the chilly weather and prepare by taking adequate clothing and equipment.

During the winter months, temperatures vary between -4 to -25 degrees Celsius. Days are often cool and rainy, making the trails wet. The temperature drops at the night, making trekking less enjoyable.

The best time to trek Manaslu is during the autumn months of September and October. Autumn is a great time to see the mountains, as well as the fall foliage. October is also a great time to witness the annual Dashain and Tihar festivals. The lower regions of the trek are warm and dry, while the higher regions are still cold.

Getting the right trekking equipment for the Manaslu circuit trek is essential. This trek involves traversing challenging landscapes, beating foothills, and crossing mountain passes. To do so, you need to pack your belongings and clothing properly. Aside from trekking gear, you also need a first aid kit. These products are useful for emergencies and can prevent headaches and other symptoms of altitude sickness. Also, your toiletries should be properly packed. These include toilet paper, soap, shampoo, and other necessary toiletries.

You can hire a porter to carry your daypack and other necessary items. He or she can carry up to fifteen to twenty-five pounds of weight on his or her back. He or she will also speak better English than a guide. But, porters are expensive and usually have little experience.

A good quality sleeping bag is essential. You can rent one from Goreto Gear Traders in Thamel. They also offer trekking equipment rentals. This can be a good option for those who do not wish to buy a complete set of equipment.

A good quality hiking backpack is also an essential part of trekking equipment for the Manaslu circuit. You should pack it with all your clothing, food, and water, and keep it waterproof. It is also a good idea to carry a sleeping bag liner. This can increase the durability of your sleeping bag and will keep your bag clean.

Depending on the time of year, you should also pack warm clothes, a first aid kit, and toiletries. You should also bring snacks, such as nuts, apples, and other healthy foods to keep yourself nourished along the trail. Glucose powders can also be useful to keep you hydrated. You can also take oral rehydration salts to help you keep yourself hydrated. You should also carry hand sanitizer and feminine hygiene products to keep your hands clean.

If you are trekking solo, you should also bring a compact sleeping bag. This will keep your bag dry, and will also help you avoid condensation. A sleeping bag liner is also a good idea, as it will keep your bag clean. You should also pack flip-flops or sandals to use in the bathroom.

If you are taking Diamox tablets, be sure to take them while you are hiking, as it will prevent you from losing sleep and from experiencing headaches. You should also carry a bottle of soap, shampoo, and toothpaste. You should also bring a first aid kit and a small first aid kit to carry in your backpack.

It is important to note that there is no medical facility along the trail. You should also carry your own toilet paper. However, shared toilet facilities are available. These can be Western-style toilets in the main building or squat toilets. At the higher altitude, the facilities become more basic. You can also use teahouses.

It is important to purchase travel insurance that covers your entire trip and includes altitudes above four thousand meters. You should also carry some cold medicine for emergencies. You should also consult a doctor for any medical issues.

Cole in particular appreciated his knowledge of Buddhism.  He was very accommodating and flexible to our needs and his command of English was excellent. Thank you again for a wonderful trip and hopefully will see you next year for another trek.

I am writing this letter to thank you for our great time trekking in Manaslu Tsum Valley trek in 2010, as well as to give confidence to other potential trekkers that Peace Nepal Treks in a great company, as I realize it is difficult to select a company from the other side of the world. Perhaps the most sticking thing for me about our time with Peace Nepal Treks was the great atmosphere which surrounded the company. From the very first time we met Nir Lama in Kathmandu, through the entire dura ... See more tion of our trek with Prem Lama and Family, and during our time in Nepal after trekking we were treated with heartwarming generosity and genuine friendship. Whether it be dropping round for a cup of Chaia in the Kathmandu office, playing cards with Pancha and Don in the afternoons after trekking, friendly wake up calls with Tatopani, or long conversations with Prem on the trail, everything was conducted with a rare good humour and friendliness. In this, we certainly felt the benefits of the family based company of Peace Nepal Treks, and received something beyond mountain views and efficient service. In my opinion, this feeling which arises from the great people who make up Peace Nepal Treks added vastly to our experience. In a practical sense, our trek was conducted with absolute smoothness. I honestly cannot recall a single incidence of mismanagement in over a month of contact with peace Nepal Treks. Every afternoon, camp would be set up quickly and effortlessly, and would soon be followed with huge dinners of beautiful food. I still consider it a miracle that they were able to cook such nice food. Although perhaps the fact that i gained weight while walking 6 or 7 hours a day is the greatest testimony to the good grub! All organizational matters such as permits, dates, payments, travel advice and transport was organized perfectly. There was never any reluctance to go above and beyond the call of duty for our experience in Nepal. I could continue writing about the great time we had in Nepal for many pages. Instead i will cut to the point and say our time with Peace Nepal Trek was truly extraordinary. I regularly recall our great times in Nepal, and we are planning on returning at the end of the year. I cannot imagine how Trekking could be any better. See less...
