8 Days Annapurna Base Camp Trek

OVERVIEW

It is your first time to Nepal or you are wondering which trek to do – Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp? Worried about acclimatization, scared of flying small planes or don’t like colder temperatures? Fret not! We have just the package for you – 8 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek!

Annapurna Base Camp trek also known as ABC is one of the best short treks where it will take you up to 4,130m which can be reached by bus and car from Kathmandu and since it does not require a flight, it will be much cheaper, making it another plus point.

At ABC, you will be looking at Mt. Annapurna 8,091m which is the 10th highest mountain in the world and many more surrounding mountains such as the sacred and iconic Matterhorn of the Himalayas – Machhapuchhre (Fish tail 6,997m), Annapurna 3 (7,555m), Ganggapurna (7,454m), Gandharva Chuli (6248m), Fluted peak (6,501m), Annapurna south (7,219m), Bharha Chuli (Fang 7.647m), Tent Peak (Tharpu Chuli 5,695m), Tare Kang (Glacier Dome 7,069m), Khangsar Kang (Roc Noir 7.485m), Patal Hiun Chuli (6,441m) and so on. This trek is best for beginners or people who don’t have much time for holiday in Nepal and yet wanting to do some short and easy trek.

The journey to Everest Base Camp has more up and down elevation gain which probably makes it a bit of a challenge – physically and mentally. It is certainly not for those who do not have a certain fitness level and it will also take a much longer time. In terms of altitude, Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) is lower as compared to Everest Base Camp (5,380m) by about 4000 feet difference so it will be a more suitable choice for people having difficulties coping with altitude or cold since the Everest Base Camp trek will be colder and drier due to the higher altitude.

The trek starts from Kathmandu to Pokhara with a drive of about 6 hours followed by a 2 hour taxi or jeep ride to Kimche where you will spend your first night before starting towards Annapurna Base Camp. The next day, we will start our journey towards Annapurna Base Camp via passing Ghandhurk which is one of the popular tourist villages offering views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. This trek passes though beautiful Gurung villages, terraced farmlands, rhododendron forest, cascading waterfalls before ending back in Pokhara which is one of the beautiful city and the second largest city in Nepal.

If you are short on time and find that 7 days is still too long, the Poon Hill Trek is another great alternative. It can be done in as little as 3 days offering amazing views of Annapurna Range. Most treks to Annapurna Base Camp include Poon Hill and lengthen the trekking duration by several days. However, if you want to skip Poon Hill and do just the Annapurna Base Camp trek, let us know so we can cater to your needs and shorten the itinerary by a few days.

ITINERARY

  • Day 1
    Arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Transfer to Hotel.

    After your arrival in Kathmandu our representatives at the airport will transfer you to your hotel and help you in checking in.

  • Day 2
    Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) and catch taxi to Kade (name of trek starting place), overnight stay in AUSTRALIAN CAMP (about 2,100m

    We drive Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) about 6 hours and catch the taxi to Kade for 1 hour than we walk about 1 and half hour to reach in Australian camp (about 2100m) for night stay. You can observe the sunset and sunrise view in the Himalayas of Annapurna region.

  • Day 3
    Trek Australian camp to New bridge or hot spring, Overnight stay in JINU DANDA (1,780m), WALKING TIME: 5 to 6 housrs

    After breakfast, we start walking towards hot spring through the rhododendron forest nesting different species of birds to the village of Landruk in habited by the warm greetings and hospitable Gurung people. We have a lunch in Landruk village and walk further Jinu Danda (hot spring) for over night stay

  • Day 4
    Trek Jinu Danda to Sinuwa (23000m) overnight stay in SINUWA, WALKING TIME: 6 hours

    The trail now ascending toward Chhormrong about one & half hour as we descend down a stone staircase and then cross the Chhomrong khola. After climbing high above the Modi Khola the trail continues uphill to Sinuwa Danda.

  • Day 5
    Trek to Sinuwa to Deurali (3,200m) , overnight stay in DEURALI, WALKING TIME: 5 to 6 hours

    After climbing high above the Modi Khola the trail continues uphill to Kuldi before descending again to Himalaya & Deurali.

  • Day 6
    Trek to Machhapurchhe base camp (M. B. C) 3,700m and Annapurna Base camp (4,130m) WALKING TIME: (5 to 6 hours)

    From Himalaya we follow the trail high above the river and walk until we reach the Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). You could also choose to visit the Machapuchhre Base Camp which is at a lower altitude and a slightly shorter distance.

  • Day 7
    Trek Annapurna base camp to Bamboo (2,310m), Overnight stay in BAMBOO, WALKING TIME: (7 hours)

    Today, after breakfast and the stunning mountain views of ANNAPURNA range with sun rise views, we start walking down hill towards, DEURALI/HIMALAYA/DOVAN and stay a night in BAMBOO.

  • Day 8
    Trek Bamboo to Gurjung (1,575m), overnight stay in GURJUNG, WALKING TIME: 6 hours

    From Bamboo the trail descends to Kuldi and then Sinuwa. From Sinuwa to the trail is a downhill walk until the Chhomrong Khola than trek ascending till top of the Chhomrong village. We have a lunch in Chhomrong than walk towards the Gurjung for overnight stay.

  • Day 9
    Trek to Kimche via GGhandruk and drive to Pokhara bout 3 hours, overnight stay in POKHARA city your own hotel

    From Gurjung and we walk further to Ghandruk. The village of Ghandruk is popular for it’s Gurung community where many members serve the British Army.

Medical support: An emergency first aid kit is carried by the support staff at all times.

Accommodation and meals: During tea house treks our guests pay for their food (breakfast/lunch/dinner) at the lodge while we provide guides/accommodation/necessary permit and transportation. It can be USD $25 per person each day for food (Lunch/dinner/breakfast)

Water: Mineral waters are available at all stops during tea house treks. You can also use tap water if you choose to use water purification tablets.

Travel Insurance: –

Travel Insurance is mandatory for all clients who choose to trek or climb with us. The insurance should cover you in case of emergencies like accidents, altitude sickness and ambulance and helicopter rescue charges if required. Please carry a copy of your insurance papers while travelling in Nepal and do send us a copy as well. This will help us in making all the necessary arrangements in case of any sort of emergencies.
