The adventure of
a jet scooter ride can now be experienced
in Nepal; it’s truly a novel way of
discovering one of the country’s
finest
rivers, the Trishuli. The 6km ride starts
near a riverside resort in Thimura, situated
8 km from Narayanghat and 28 km from Mungling.
The safely features of the machines are well
proven. Nevertheless, there are well proven.
Nevertheless, there are certain mandatory

the use of helmets, life jackets, provision
of a two-way communication system with the
operator of the jet scooter and accident insurance
for all the riders.
Cost, Access & Accommodation
There is currently only one agency offering
the sport. They have two Yamaha scooters that
can do speed of 60-70 kmph. The agency’s
driver operates the scooters, carrying two
passengers. Ride along the 6km stretch lasts
approximately 12 minutes and costs Rs. 176
per person for walk in tourists. For others,
there are two package deals. A one night package
deal, which includes the ride, dinner, breakfast,
and a peep into the lifestyle of the Chepangs,
Gurungs and Magars (as also a chudka dance),
costs $12 for Nepalis, $14 for tourists from
SAARC countries and $17 for local diplomats
(INGO staff etc).
There is also a 2-night package, which offers
beside the above mentioned, a visit to Devghat,
a holy Hindu place at the confluence of the
Trishuli and Kali Gandaki Rivers. Devghat
is also a destination place for old people
wanting to spend the last days of their life.
They find solace in the company of those who
are there for the same purpose.
The site also offers jungle walks and bird
watching. This package includes 2 dinners,
lunch, breakfast and two nights stay at the
river resort. For Nepalis, it comes at &22,
for SAARC tourists at $26 and for local diplo-mats
at $28. an additional attraction is a place
called Sita Gufa, a cave where it is be lived
the earth opened up to receive the wife of
lord Rama to take her to where she same came
from.
Getting there
The
resort offers a pick-up service by jeep/car.
From the bus stop Ramnagar, situated off the
highway from Mungling to Narayanghat the riverside
resort at Timura is 2 kilometers from Ramnagar.
Travelers from Kathmandu can take any of the
several buses going to Narayanghat/Chitwan
and get off where the rod branches off to
Ramnagar. Those coming in from Chitwan can
take any bus headed
For Kathmandu or Pokhara and alight at the
some place on the highway and head for Timura.
The riverside resort is the only accommodation
in the area.
